The following is an announcement from the family of Dr Barbara Harrell-Bond, RSC founding Director:

Barbara Harrell-Bond Memorial

Lady Margaret Hall and the Harrell-Bond family will be holding a memorial in honour of our mother, the late Dr Barbara Harrell-Bond. This celebration of her life and work will take place at 2pm, Saturday, November 24th in the Simpkins Lee Theatre and will be followed by refreshments.

We know our mother made a difference to so many and we hope this memorial will be the first of many to be held around the world. It will be an opportunity for her many friends, family, colleagues and those whose lives she touched, to come together to celebrate her life.

If you would like to attend please let us know by sending a RSVP message to bhb.memorial101@gmail.com so we are able to plan for numbers and put you on the guest list. Please be aware that the theatre has a capacity limited to 130 people.

We know there will be many who would like to attend but given such short notice may be unable to make it. We invite anyone unable to attend to send a short written message or video which we could show or make available during this celebration.

We also want you to know that in collaboration with the Refugee Studies Centre that she founded, we are planning another celebration of our mother’s life around the anniversary of her death. This is provisionally scheduled to be held in Oxford on July 20th 2019.

We are relying on word of mouth and her international network to help spread the word. Please let us know if there is anyone we should add to our list for this or next year’s event.

Yours sincerely,

David, Stephen and Debbie Harrell-Bond
