the Sally Hogg Prize
For the academic year 2026-2027 those interested in becoming Visiting Fellows at the Refugee Studies Centre can apply for the Sally Hogg Prize. The aim of the prize is to provide exceptional overseas applicants with limited funding to support a Visiting Fellowship. The funds will cover the fees and return economy class travel, and may cover visa, and NHS costs (depending on the visa required), up to a maximum of £5,000, but applicants will need to fund their own accommodation and living expenses.
Eligible applicants must be PhD (DPhil) students, post-doctoral scholars or professional academics, who meet the UK visitor visa criteria appropriate for their visit and:
- are nationals of and reside in a low-income country,
- and/or have experienced displacement.
Applications for the funds should be submitted at the same time as applying for the fellowship.
What is covered:
- Visiting Fellowship fee for one term
- Return travel in economy class from the nearest airport to your current institution of study
- UK airport transfers
- Visa related costs, including the NHS surcharge. (Only if the visitor is eligible for an Academic Visitor visa)
Total value per recipient: Maximum of £5,000
