Leander Kandilige

Senior Lecturer, Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana

Leander Kandilige is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana. He obtained his DPhil. in Migration Studies and MSt. in Refugee Studies from the University of Oxford. He also holds a PGCert. in Managing Voluntary Organisations from the University of Southampton. In addition, he holds an MA in International Affairs and a BA in Political Science with Philosophy from University of Ghana. His areas of academic research interest include migration policy formulation; migration and development nexus; migration, globalisation and development; labour migrations in Africa; return migration and theories of migration. He has been Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator and Researcher for several large projects that have been funded by diverse international funders including the ‘Migration for Development and Equality’ (MIDEQ), a five-year GCRF/UKRI-funded project and the ‘Aligning Migration Management and Migration-Development Nexus’ (MIGNEX) project, a five-year project funded by the EU. He has consulted for international organisations including the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), GIZ, ILO, OECD, EU and DFID.
