This week, Bloomberg Businessweek has a feature on the RSC Director, Alexander Betts. The article, titled ‘The economist who wants to put refugees to work’, focuses on Betts' early studies in economics and his first encounters with refugees in the Netherlands when he was 19. This led, at the time, to an undergraduate dissertation focused on “designing more efficient ways to manage refugee populations, including a matching program that would align migrants’ location preferences with host countries’ workforce needs”, and since then to ongoing research into refugee economies and the international refugee system.
