Refugee Week 2020 | Imagine
Today begins Refugee Week 2020, running from 15 June and culminating in World Refugee Day on 20 June. This year’s Refugee Week theme is ‘Imagine’ - "because when the old ways of doing things are no longer working, that’s what we need to do… To step beyond the current moment, and perceive something different."
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all events are online. You can find the long list of what’s on here: https://refugeeweek.org.uk/events/
At the RSC, the final webinar in our #ByRefugees series will be held this week on Wednesday 17 June at 5pm BST: Affecting change from within: refugees in international humanitarian organisations, with Joelle Hangi (Intern, Innovation Service, UNHCR Regional Bureau in the East, Horn, and Great Lakes Regions of Africa, Nairobi), Bahati Ernestine Hategekimana (Youth Activities Coordinator, Community Based Protection Unit, UNHCR Kenya Country Office, Nairobi), and Foni Joyce (Co-Chair, UNHCR Global Youth Advisory Council, Nairobi). Register here.
Next week, on Wednesday 24 June, Professor Laura Hammond (SOAS University of London) will give this year’s Annual Elizabeth Colson Lecture: Mobility and immobility in the time of coronavirus: reflections from long-term study of migration and displacement. Find full details and the registration link here.
