On 11 November, Louise Bloom, Research Officer with the Humanitarian Innovation Project, gave a presentation on innovation at a UNICEF event held at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event, entitled 'The Promise of Innovation: Saving and Improving children’s lives. Can innovation deliver?', focused on how to use emerging technologies to help children in the developing world, and those caught up in humanitarian crises.
In her presentation, Bloom highlighted the importance of understanding and supporting the innovation that already exists in affected communities. She explained that it is this type of innovation, and not just the improvement of organisational response, which HIP believes 'is key if innovation is going to deliver.'
