People from across the UK receive the award, which recognises charitable work, public services outside the Civil Service and distinguished service to the arts and sciences. Dr Koser, Deputy Director and Academic Dean of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), will attend the Investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 8 May.
In addition to his work with the Journal of Refugee Studies and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Dr Koser holds a Professorship in Conflict, Peace and Security at United Nations University-Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT). He is also Chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Migration; Non-Resident Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution; Associate Fellow at Chatham House; Research Associate at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva; and Non-Resident Fellow at the Lowy Institute in Sydney.
