We are delighted to announce that Cathryn Costello has been awarded the title of professor in this year’s Recognition of Distinction exercise. She is now the Andrew W Mellon Professor of Refugee and Migration Law.

Professor Costello is a leading scholar in international and European refugee and migration law. She currently leads an interdisciplinary team at the RSC working on refugee recognition and the global governance of refugee mobility, as well as co-editing the Oxford Handbook of International Refugee Law, with Professors Jane McAdam and Michelle Foster.

Professor Costello began her academic career at the Law School, Trinity College Dublin, and from 2000-2003, she was also the Director of the Irish Centre for European Law. From 2003-2013, she was Francis Reynolds Fellow and Tutor in EU and Public Law at Worcester College, Oxford. She joined the RSC in 2013 as Andrew W Mellon Associate Professor in International Human Rights and Refugee Law. She also holds a visiting Professor II post at the University of Oslo.
