Public Seminar Series Michaelmas term 2022

This year the RSC Public Seminar Series will take place through fortnightly seminars, on Tuesday lunchtimes from 1-2pm. This term, the seminars will cover a wide-range of themes, including social cohesion, humanitarian energy, refugee education, and statelessness. 

Rebecca Buxton is a lecturer in political theory at the University of Cambridge, specialising in migration, statelessness, and the work of Judith Shklar. She teaches two courses on the MPhil in Politics and International Studies: Borders, Migration and Displacement, and Feminist Political Thought. Her current research looks at the political rights of refugees in various settings and the concept of ‘membership’ in political and social theory. She is also interested in migration studies, history of political thought, non-human animals, and feminist philosophy/political theory. Rebecca has a BA in Philosophy from King’s College London and an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from Oxford. She briefly worked a Parliamentary Researcher in the UK House of Commons before returning to Oxford to study for a DPhil. She was previously the Stipendiary Lecturer in Politics and Organising Tutor at St Anne’s College, Oxford, teaching history of political thought, contemporary political philosophy, and the ethics of migration and displacement.­
