In September Melanie Teff (Senior advocate, European representative of Refugees International) travelled to Rakhine State and spent several days visiting the Muslim Rohingya and the Buddhist Rakhine displacement camps in and around the state capital, and interviewing both communities about current living conditions and their concerns and hopes for the future. She also spent some time in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh interviewing Rohingya refugees. She will discuss issues that came up during her research related to humanitarian access, coordination, funding, segregation and freedom of movement, reconciliation, and citizenship.
