About the seminar

Reflecting on the intimacy between liberalism and violence through the scholarship of Talal Asad, this talk will explore how liberalism enables violence and violence enables liberalism.

About the speaker

Ayça Çubukçu is Associate Professor in Human Rights and Co-Director of LSE Human Rights at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is the author of For the Love of Humanity: the World Tribunal on Iraq (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2018). Dr Çubukçu co-edits the LSE International Studies Series at Cambridge University Press, is a member of Humanity Journal’s editorial collective and a co-editor of Jadaliyya’s Turkey page.
