Gilles Carbonnier is Professor of Development Economics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He is Director of Studies of the Graduate Institute, and further serves as President of the Centre for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action, and Vice-President of the European Association of Development Institutes. His teaching and research focuses on illicit financial flows, terrorism and disaster economics, as well as on the political economy of armed conflict and humanitarianism. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of humanitarian action (ICRC and MSF) and international trade (GATT/WTO). His latest book is Humanitarian Economics: War, Disaster and the Global Aid Market (Hurst & OUP, 2016).

Chair: Guy S Goodwin-Gill (Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College, Emeritus Professor of International Refugee Law, and Founding Editor of the International Journal of Refugee Law.
