Rosa da Costa is a Human Rights lawyer and has led a career largely in the United Nations system, including with UNHCR, OHCHR and the Office of the Representative of Children in Armed Conflict. She has expertise in a range of human rights areas, including refugee law and internal displacement, women's rights, administration of justice, integration, humanitarian law and children's rights – and has published on several of these topics. She has participated in emergency operations and numerous UN field missions, including to conflict and post-conflict settings (e.g., Iraq, Sudan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya).

Ms da Costa has been both a regular and guest lecturer in MA programs at a number of universities and led several research projects. She is currently living in London, and interested in research on displacement, gender, grand corruption, and the relationship between human rights and contemporary conflict and power structures.
