In June, Emeritus Professor Dawn Chatty took part in a workshop at the LSE Middle East Centre on ‘The Long-term Challenges of Forced Migration: Local and Regional Perspectives from Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq’. This workshop brought together scholars, policy-makers and civil society representatives to critically reflect on some of the key challenges posed by the Syrian refugee emergency in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and the wider Middle East.
Professor Chatty spoke on the history of displacement in the region, giving an insight into earlier waves of displacement and an understanding of why displaced Syrians have been so generously received in neighbouring countries.
