A recent article in The New Humanitarian by Robert Hakiza, Alexander Betts, Evan Easton-Calabria and Kate Pincock relates to the subject of our webinar series this term, refugee-led organisations providing protection and assistance.

As the article states, “There are literally hundreds of such organisations, many of which provide services that are highly valued by the communities, and some operate at an impressive scale. However, they have rarely received international humanitarian funding and are almost never recognised as implementing partners by the UN system.”

The authors argue for the formation of a coalition on refugee-led aid, with a focus on building best practices and piloting new delivery mechanisms to get resources into the hands of frontline providers.
