Explore what makes people and societies tick, with an evening of live performances and hands-on workshops presenting cutting-edge research from Oxford University's Social Sciences Division.

On Friday 15 May the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford will be opening its doors for a LiveFriday evening of interactive events, including theatrical performances, creative workshops and lively talks, all on the theme of 'Social Animals'. This LiveFriday event will showcase the cutting-edge research of Oxford University's Social Sciences Division.

The Refugee Studies Centre will be giving a presentation on the lives of young refugees in the Middle East, featuring the wonderful photographs from the 2013 UNRWA/EU photo and film competition for young Palestine refugees, followed by a Q&A session with Professor Dawn Chatty. This will start at 8.15pm in Gallery 21 on the Ground Floor.

You can also peruse the Ashmolean collections, tweet along with interactive social media experiments on the night, experience learning games from the Rees Centre and Social Policy and Intervention, and pop into the Soundbites lair to get your fix of research tales from around the world, before watching a freshly commissioned dance piece for OPHI, and even helping to design ways to remove the social stigma from HIV positive teenagers in South Africa – top designs will be manufactured and tested in the field.

LiveFridays run from 7-10.30pm. Admission is free and the Rooftop Dining Room and Crypt Café will be open all evening.
