On 14-15 April 2016, a special international gathering was held to celebrate the scholarship of Professor Guy S Goodwin-Gill, Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford and Emeritus Professor of International Refugee Law.

On Thursday 14 April, a group of Professor Goodwin-Gill’s former doctoral students gathered to present papers on a range of topics, including forced migration; international criminal law, terrorism and international humanitarian law; and international institutions, equality and participation. This seminar was jointly sponsored by All Souls College, the Faculty of Law, and the Refugee Studies Centre

On Friday 15 April, the International Journal of Refugee Law hosted a symposium in honour of Professor Goodwin-Gill, followed by a celebratory dinner at All Souls. The symposium was jointly sponsored by All Souls College, the Andrew & Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, the International Journal of Refugee Law, the Oxford Faculty of Law, and the Refugee Studies Centre. Speakers included Professor Jane McAdam (Scientia Professor of Law and Director of the Kaldor Centre, University of NSW), Professor Walter Kälin (Envoy of the Chairmanship of the Nansen Initiative, and Professor of Constitutional and International Law, University of Bern), Dr Volker Türk (Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, UNHCR) and Professor Elspeth Guild (Jean Monnet Professor ad personam, Queen Mary, University of London). The symposium will lead to the publication of a special issue of the International Journal of Refugee Law.
